What it treats

The injuries that happen on Friday night and in the fourth mile

An athlete's injury is different because the goal is different. You are not trying to get back to sitting comfortably. You are trying to cut, land, sprint, throw, and collide again, at full speed, without thinking about it. That is a higher bar, and it takes a different kind of rehab.

Our team includes licensed physical therapists and athletic trainers who have spent years on sidelines. They know what a torn ACL looks like in month four, what shin splints do to a cross country season, and how to talk to a sixteen year old who wants to play through it.

Who it's for

Every kind of athlete on the Highway 90 corridor

Student athletes

Medina Valley, Hondo, D'Hanis and the club and select teams around them. Football, volleyball, baseball, softball, track, basketball, soccer. We work with your coach's timeline and your parents' peace of mind.

Adult athletes

Runners, lifters, cyclists, softball and rec league players, and anyone who trains hard on purpose. Getting older is not a reason to lose the thing you love.

Working athletes

Ranch and construction work is athletic work. The same rebuild and test approach gets you back to lifting, climbing, and long days without a setback.

How it works

Heal, rebuild, test, release

Heal

Calm the injury, restore motion, protect what is healing. Hands on treatment and early loading, timed to the tissue, not to a template.

Rebuild

Strength, balance, and control rebuilt in our rehab gym until the side you hurt matches the side you did not. This is the part most clinics skip.

Test and release

Sport specific drills in our sports performance facility. Cutting, landing, sprinting, throwing. You go back when you have proven it, and your coach gets a clear answer.

The difference

Cleared is not the same as ready

Most re injuries happen in the first weeks back, when an athlete is pain free but has not rebuilt the strength and reaction time the sport demands. Our 5,000 square foot sports performance facility exists to close that gap. See the facility.

Sports injury questions

What is the difference between sports medicine and regular physical therapy?

The rehab is similar at the start. The difference is where it ends. Sports injury rehab does not stop when the pain is gone. We rebuild strength, power, and control, then test you with the actual movements of your sport before you go back.

Can you work with my coach or athletic trainer at school?

Yes, and we prefer to. With your permission we will coordinate with your school trainer, coach, or surgeon so everyone is working from the same plan and the same return date.

How soon after an injury should I come in?

Sooner is better. A sprain seen in the first few days heals faster than one that has been limped on for three weeks. If you are not sure whether it is serious, call and we will tell you honestly whether you need us or an orthopedist first.

Do I have to be a serious athlete?

No. Softball leagues, runners, hunters, ranch hands, and anyone who wants to get back to something physical gets the same approach. Your sport is whatever you are trying to get back to.

Is return to play testing included?

Yes. Testing in our clinic is part of the plan for any athlete we treat, not an add on. You go back when the numbers and the movement say you are ready.
